Ingredients:
Vitamin D – Vitamin D is an important vitamin in the maintenance of organ systems. Vitamin D regulates the calcium and phosphorus levels in the blood by promoting their absorption from food in the intestines, and by promoting re-absorption of calcium in the kidneys. It promotes bone formation and is essential in the development of an intact and strong skeleton. Vitamin D helps the immune system. The main sources of vitamin D are from the sun and fortified foods such as milk with vitamin D added. Older Americans (greater than age 50) are thought to have a higher risk of developing vitamin D deficiency. The ability of skin to convert vitamin D to its active form decreases as we age. The kidneys, which help convert vitamin D to its active form, sometimes do not work as well when people age. Therefore, some older Americans may need vitamin D from a supplement. A recent study by the Mayo clinic found a significant link between chronic pain and Vitamin D deficiency. Patients with Vitamin D deficiency required twice the pain relief medication to achieve the same results as those with adequate levels of the vitamin. In another study of over 4,000 men and women over 17 years, researchers found that participants with higher blood levels of vitamin D had a 40% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes than those with the lowest levels. Since 2005, several studies have been released which suggested a connection between vitamin D intake and prevention of several types of cancer. In 2007, The Canadian Cancer Society began recommending that all adult Canadians consider taking 1000 IU of vitamin D during the fall and winter months (when typically the country’s northern latitude prevents sufficient sun-stimulated production of vitamin D). This kind of recommendation is a first for cancer agencies. Regular daily intake of up to about 2,000 to 2,200 IU of Vitamin D for adults is considered safe while 3,000 IU on a daily basis would be considered unsafe.
DL- Phenylalanine (DLPA) – DLPA is an amino acid that helps the body deal with pain naturally and also gives the body a feeling of well-being. The human brain produces chemicals called endorphins that closely resemble morphine, the powerful painkiller. Studies with laboratory animals found that the endorphins are incredibly effective and often many times more powerful than morphine in providing pain relief. The body makes endorphins, but it also makes “endorphin-eaters” to destroy them. Problems occur with people who suffer with pain when the endorphin-eaters overpower the endorphins. DLPA is an amino acid that contains 2 forms of phenylalanine. The D form of phenylalanine helps the body protect the endorphins from the endorphin destroyers and allows the body to deal with the pain naturally. The L form of phenylalanine is found in protein rich foods and helps the body to produce mood-elevating chemical for a feeling of well-being. Tumeric (also Turmeric or Cucuma Longa) is a spice used in Indian curries. It is also used extensively in Ayervedic medicine for a variety of ailments. The “active” ingredient in tumeric is Curcumin and its more powerful derivatives called “curcuminoids”. Curcumin acts as a free radical scavenger and antioxidant. There are a number of clinical studies completed or underway that are providing growing evidence of tumeric and/or curcumin’s therapeutic effects on pain relief, arthritis, several types of cancer, tumors, alzheimers, liver disorders, and depression. Boswellia, also known as Shallaki or Boswellia serrata - is a natural and safe herb. One element of the herb, Boswellic Acid, has been studied and appears to have natural anti-inflammatory properties. It has been used extensively in Ayurvedic medicine for joint support and to provide an overall sense of well-being. In several small clinical trials, Boswella was tested on patients with arthritis, colitis, Crohn’s disease or bronchial asthma with some reported positive impact. Long-term use of boswellia does not appear to cause irritation or ulceration of the stomach.
Rose Hips. Also called the rose haw, is the fruit of the rose plant. It develops on many species if the rose flower and stem are left on the plant after the flower dies. Rose hips are particularly high in Vitamin C, with about 1700–2000 mg per 100 g in the dried product, one of the richest plant sources. Rose hips also contain vitamins A, D and E, essential fatty acids and antioxidants. Rose hip powder is regarded as a common treatment for arthritis. Brewed into a concoction, is also used in folk medicine to treat constipation. Rose hips contain a lot of iron, so some women brew rose hip tea during menstruation to make up for the iron that they lose with the blood.
Nattokinase is an enzyme extracted and purified from a long used Japanese food called Natto which is made from fermented soybeans. Nattokinase (which means natto enzyme) has been found in studies in Japan to dissolve blood clots, improve circulation, lower blood pressure, aid joint and muscle pain, and provide several other benefits to the circulatory system. Nattokinase, which contains vitamin K, can interfere with the actions of blood thinning drugs such as Warfarin and aspirin. People taking Warfarin may have to reduce their dosage when introducing Nattokinase to their system, and should consult their physician before taking Nattokinase.
Adaptogenic Proprietary Blend containing: L-Theanine is an amino acid commonly found in tea. L-Theanine has been shown to reduce mental and physical stress and may produce feelings of relaxation without drowsiness by boosting the production of alpha brainwaves (those produced by the brain during relaxed, alert and awake times). L-theanine has a significant effect on the release or reduction of neurotransmitters like dopamine and serotonin, resulting in improved memory and learning ability. Stress and anxiety are debilitating conditions that upset the balance of our hormones leading to a loss of our well-being, performance, and even lifespan. Stress impairs the immune system, leaving us vulnerable to opportunistic infections, and can cause depression. Studies have shown that even repeated, extremely high doses of theanine cause little to no harmful psychological or physical effects.
Rhodiola Root Extract (Rhodiola crenulata root). Rhodiola is a popular plant in traditional medicine in Eastern Europe and Asia. It has a reputation for stimulating the nervous system, decreasing depression, enhancing work performance, eliminating fatigue, and preventing high altitude sickness. Rhodiola has been categorized as an adaptogen by Russian researchers. The word adaptogen is defined as a natural herb product that increases the body’s resistance to stresses such as trauma, anxiety and bodily fatigue. Its claimed benefits include helping the body to defend itself against depression and cancer and to help the body enhance its cardio and central nervous system.
Siberian ginseng. also called Eleuthero Root Extract (Eleutherococcus senticosus) - Eleuthero Root is a member of the ginseng family. The root is found in the Siberian province of Russia. It contains niacin, amino acids, carbohydrates and other vitamins and mineral. There have been over one thousand studies on Eleuthero. It has been shown to nutritionally support the glandular system. It is used to promote an overall sense of well-being. Eleuthero is classified as an adaptogen, which means that it helps the body adapt to any situation that would normally alter the body’s function. It appears to act on the adrenal glands to help prevent excess cortisol production (cortisol is believed to cause stress related weight gain particularly in the midsection area) in response to stress. It has a beneficial effect on the heart and the circulation. It has been shown to increase energy and stamina and to help the body resist viral infections, environmental toxins, radiation and chemotherapy. It has also been used to help the mind restore memory, concentration and improve cognitive abilities. Eleuthero Root is also popular for debility, depression, fatigue and nervous breakdown.
Ashwagandha Root and Leaf Extract (Withania somnifera). Is an adaptogen extracted from a natural botanical called Ashwagandha, which has been revered for its health benefiting properties in India and Asia for centuries. Adaptogens help the body combat the daily effects of stress and to enhance mind and body performance by working with the body’s natural biological systems to help restore balance to the body and normalize body functions. It helps to increase the body’s resistance to stress and reduce physiological responses to stress events. Ashwagandha helps the body to increase resistance to fatigue while promoting vigor, vitality and well being helps counteract the negative effects of stress.
